and the winner is, Dan Jonas. Dan logged 6,095.3 nm flying TO BAC events (only one way distance earns points) so he had WAAAAAAAAY more miles than that. His total is more that twice that of the 2006 winner.

Dan had some interesting comments when I circulated the final results. He said . . . .

Brian and I are, sadly, cancelling the Maine Fly In scheduled for Saturday the 15th.

As he did last year, Rick Koch has again made available an array of memento items, available at BAC Fest 2007 Mementos.

We need numbers to make plans for the Wiscassett Fly-In and Brunswick Airshow!

September 14, 15, and 16, 2007, we are having a Fly-In to Campbell River, BC for some Salmon fishing or whatever else you want to do on the Island: Bear watching, whales, kayaking, etc.

I am sorry to say that the low ceilings and viz have caused the Greenwood Lake Fly-In to be cancelled

While it may be steamy and hazy, we are a GO for the fly-in at 4N1

Greetings from New England,

Amazingly enough, AOPA is holding their annual EXPO in my neck of the woods. I won't even have to suck up to the airlines for this if the weather turns bad. ('Course, I-91 is a SOB any day of the week, sigh.)

AirVenture BAC dinner to be held on Friday, July 27th at the Hilton Garden Inn at 6:30 PM.

We are going to try and get some BAC members together at the upcoming Canadian Aviation Expo in Oshawa, ON. The regional banner has arrived, so all we need now is a few members! This event will count towards PT Points, so fly your machine to Oshawa between June 22-24, 2007!

The Southeast region is continuing on the fly-in feasts. For the next few weeks we have Big Sandy Regional on the 26th, Lulu's on the 2nd, and Rough River on the 16th. Please email Brad or Tom if you plan on making it to these. We have a lot planned for our region (see schedule below). - Doug

We hope to see as many BAC members (from any region!) as possible at the BAC fly-in during the EAA Regional event on June Friday 22 - Sunday June 24. This is a 3-day fly-in for the EAA held at Front Range Airport (KFTG) near Denver, CO, and airshows will be performed Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Saturday will be various aerobatic routines, and Sunday's show will have a warbird focus. Saturday is our BAC target day, Friday is rather quiet, but certainly either weekend day will have much to offer. Various technical and operational seminars and workshops will be conducted on all 3 days.

This year's President's Trophy race is getting really interesting. We aren't even all the way through May and already 28 members have racked up points and logged a total of over 11,000 miles.

This fly-in is your chance to beat the airshow traffic and taxi right up to the show! Ellsworth is rolling out the red carpet to host our General Aviation pilots and present you with a chance to see what Ellsworth does. So here are the benefits:

Spring is here and we're ready to fly in Kentucky. Four fly-ins have been posted, one per month. We'll move east to west across the state beginning May 26 at Big Sandy Regional in eastern Kentucky.

Paul Werbin grabbed the lead in the 2007 PT Race with his flight to SNF by way of the Bahamas. Even a dead electrical system didn't keep him from meeting fellow BACers at the type club tent at SNF.

We finally did it! We outfoxed the Weather Gods. (Of course they are going to clobber us tonight and tomorrow.) The "Up The IRS" Fly-In at Westfield, MA was a success. We had 5 A/C, 9 attendees, and 3 non-BAC guests.

I want to thank everyone who managed to get here for making this a good start to the year for Northeast Region.

This is the weekend - Mid-May- Fly-In (before the rates get to high) – Rapid City, SD come join us on Saturday May 12th.

The Mid Atlantic Fly In scheduled for this weekend at KGEV (Jefferson, NC) has been rescheduled due to weather.

Sun-n-Fun is just around the corner. We hope many of you will try to make it, especially those east of the big river. If you are planning on coming to the event, please give some of your time. Attention all those in the SE Region... the first fly-in of 2007 is a lunch at Sammy's Touch And Go Restaurant in Pell City, AL this Saturday (31st). Tom would like all of us to meet at the FBO by 11:45 to walk over to the restaurant. Come enjoy the beautiful weather and great food.

Dan Jonas jumped into the early lead in the 2007 PT race followed closely by Gary Cavasos.

The North Central Region would like to invite everyone to The Morgan Adams Concours d'Elegance -- an incredible charity event featuring a fantastic aircraft and automobile review with silent and live travel-related auctions. The event brings together a collection that spans the production history of each industry, presenting an incredible array from the earliest significant air/auto to breathtaking modern jets and super cars. The list of attractions at this event boasts one-of-a kind vintage vehicles, one-off-assembly automobiles as well as custom private jets and extraordinary vintage aircraft. Accompanying our attractions is food from 10 wonderful Denver restaurants and live music.

We are calling the Hillsboro fly-in a great success even though turnout was a bit low due to weather (sound familiar?). We had eleven people attend the GE tour and a few more that that for the barbecue! Great food, great people and a great tour. Can't beat that! And, we will have a write-up on the club and our fly-in in the local paper next week!

Let's fly in Saturday April 14 2007 at noon and meet for lunch in the mountains of North Carolina for the first Mid Atlantic Region get together of 2007.

We'll be having a Fly-in near Denver, sponsored by BAC North Central Region on June 22-24th, with Sat June 23 being the target day. This will be held in conjunction with the EAA Rocky Mtn Region fly-in / Airshow, which normally attracts 400-500 aircraft, at KFTG, Front Range Airport.

East Central Region Ohio Fly-in, March 2-4, 2007.

Spring is around the corner, and to kick off the fly-in season. Dan Kirby is hosting a fly-in at Hillsboro, Ohio (HOC) Friday, March 2nd, through Sunday, March 4th, with rain dates of March 9th through March 11th. Events include a tour of the GE Jet Engine Test Facility and an evening barbecue and bull session. Read more for details.

I am unable to get out of Westfield due to SNOW!!??

I am sorry, friends, I am unable to get to Greewood Lake due to continuing snow and 2-3 mile Viz on my end. If any of you can, safely, to there please feel free to. Visit both flight schools and say hi.

Mike Rellihan has a strong hold on first place in the PT race for 2006 after logging 530 nm on the way to Gaston's. Dean Sikes moved into second place.

The President's Trophy standings have been updated and now include all planes that made it to BAC Fest. Some pilots have not turned in their routes and were given the direct miles from their home base to KBEC. PT rules award points for distance between all airports where a take-off or landing is made enroute to an event so some of these could be short changed (and probably are).

The President’s Trophy will be awarded annually at BAC Fest to the BAC member that accumulated the most President’s Trophy (PT) points during the previous calendar year.

Fly the Devil – 23 Sep 2006: The North Central Region along with Bill Franklin will be hosting our Regional Fly In at Spearfish, SD (KSPF). We will fly a flight plan, this year, to Devils Tower (Centennial Year of the Park.) The flight will be about 45 minute round trip. Black Hills Central Reservation has setup blocks of 5 rooms for us at the Holiday Inn at Spearfish (about 5 minutes) and another block of 15 rooms at the Mineral Palace Hotel in Deadwood (25 minutes.) Call Black Hills Central Reservations at 800-529-0105 for Hotel rooms above. There is a service fee and be sure to get their cancellation policy.

You just don’t come to a beautiful destination like Prince Edward Island and stay a day. There is too much magic to the place.

We decided today to postpone BAC East II in Gettysburg until either late September or early October due to the myth of foul weather heading our way.
Watch for the new date and itinery in the near future.

I am cancelling the FSO fly-in due to inclement weather moving in starting by 8 am and slowing increasing through out the day.
Central Vermont is calling for winds to be 160 @ 12 Gusting to 20 and possible wind shear by 8 am.
We will reschedule for later this summer.

Bo Boggs extended his lead in the 2006 President's Trophy race racking up another 113.7 points with his flight to KGGG. Too bad the weather kept the turnout low. Sounds like those that made it (including those that drove in) thoroughly enjoyed the tower tour and the BBQ lunch.

Flying between weather systems, seven BACers in 5 planes met for breakfast at Nashua New Hampshire. Organized only days before the Saturday February 4, 2006 date, the event brought together people who had never met and some who had corresponded but never got together face to face. It also had the good fortune of being held hours after and hours before nasty IFR weather in the New England area.

The 2006 fly-in schedule has been placed in Downloads, for the South Carolina Breakfast Club.

First, I'd like to say congratulations to Brian Foote for winning the 2005 PT race. Congratulations are also in order for the highest placing member from the South Central Region - Bo Boggs. Brian Foote wins the President's Trophy for 2005 with 2326.5 nautical miles. The top five finishers all logged over 1000 nm (one way) to BAC fly-ins.

It looks like the Weather Gods will be with us on Sunday.
So bring your best landing, a desire to learn and your appetite to Wiscasset (KIWI) on Sunday October 30th, the fun starts at 10 am and the class starts at 11 am.

Remember October 15th is the Northeast 2nd annual Fly-In and Maintenance Clinic at Wiscasset, Me (KIWI)

This year we will be going over prevenataive maintenance and what we need to do to get ready for winter flying. The class will be given by my A&P Mike Muchmore.

Once again, I cannot make the fly-in to Sedona scheduled for this weekend. I have to fly out on business on Thursday morning and will not be back until Sunday so if there are any members planning to attend the Fly-In and want to take the Southwest Banner with them to Sedona, contact me at jnt.bryant@verizon.net and we can make arrangements.

September 16 and 17 will be the big fly in at BVO. (Bartlesville Oklahoma, near Tulsa). The FAA operates a tower for this event, so look up all the information that I put on our Calendar under Tulsa Regional Fly In for September 16th. Sounds like a lot of fun, so if you can make it come on over to BVO and look up BAC member Keith Greene, perhaps myself and Dave Buttram will be able to attend also.

Although only 2 Musketeers attended, we had a great time joining the Nebraska Antique Airplane Association fly in at Minden, Nebraska. Bill Franklin and his wife from Rapid City, SD and my family had some great conversation, great food, good weather and some fantastic airplanes. Pictures are posted under NC flyins area of the photos section.

Everyone survived! Although the weather did close in on a few people headed home to the South we enjoyed a beautiful day in the Western Mountains of Maine. 17 people came in for a great BBQ cooked by Scott Flood. We sat under the wind sock in the segmented circle for a great lunch and a fantastic view. Full stats to come soon but I know Bob wins furthest distance. We also picked up a new member; Sundowner owner who joined us for lunch and will be joining us on BAC soon too! View the Photos!

Jim Spencer, the 34A airport manager, was kind enough to let me put up the BAC SE Banner today. Not only that, he has given us reserved parking on the paved ramp right in front of the BAC Banner. You can taxi past all those Ps and Cs parked in the grass, to your own special parking place on the asphalt.

Only 1 Week Until BAC North Central Fly-in, Pioneer Village, Minden, NE 0V3. Held in conjunction with the Antique Airplane Association Fly-In, August 27, 2005. I need to find out who plans on attending so that I can let them know how many we will have. I hope to get an area set aside for us to park together but I need a count by the 1st of Aug. Coming up real soon is our next BAC Northeast Fly-In at Sugarloaf Regional Airport in Carrabassett Valley, Maine. (B21)

The schedule of events will be similar to our other fly-ins. Arrive somewhere around 10:00 - 10:30. The grill will be going from about 12:00 to about 1:00 with dogs, burgers, chicken, etc.

I'm going to go ahead and claim that Mark Miller's Rodent Roundup broke records and raised the bar for future BAC flyins. (I'll leave it to the rest of you to knock me back down to earth if need be...).

I'm throwing a first birthday party for BAC this Saturday, July 2 at my airport, 1L0. That's about 25 miles west of New Orleans (MSY).

Come for burgers and birthday cake. Show up around 10, stay till 2 or 3 or until you get bored looking at and talking about Mice.

I could use someone with a digital camera to be the official photographer for the event.

The Flying Foote has taken a sizable lead in the President's Trophy Race. The results have been updated with the most recent fly-in to KRAP.

Since I still have the BAC SE Banner, and if I can get the use of the local FBO on Saturday July 2nd, would anyone be interested in flying in to 34A (Laurens County, South Carolina)? We can supplement Cloyd's feeble attempt at a BAC birthday cake.

Hello Southeast BACers. I see lack of interest in touring the Maule Factory.

I'm planning to throw a birthday party for BAC on July 2 at St. John Airport (1L0). That's about 25 miles west of New Orleans International (MSY). Won't be a real formal fly-in. Just get together, meet people, have a burger, blow out the candle and wish BAC a Happy Birthday. Who knows, maybe I'll scare up some party hats. Bring your cameras.

We'll probably start to gather about 10 am.

I'd like to know how many folks to expect so I know how big a shindig to prepare.

The BAC/MM Northeast Fly-In is a go! Unless there is a major change in the weather (THAT couldn't happen, could it?) we will hold the event in Westfield, MA. As best I can see, the rain showers and clouds will hold until Saturday afternoon, late. So what do I know? It's a decent guess.

Who is running the weather? Mayor Daley? We are still on for Westfield although the forecast for Saturday evening is getting squirrelly again. As usual, the BAF event will operate on a VFR standard. As of this morning they are beginning to talk about increasing chances of rain late Saturday afternoon or evening.

Here are some "local" NOTAMS from the Connecticut Valley.
First...remember, we are in the OPPOSITE end of the state from Boston. We've rebelled before and we can do it again.

So far the BAF Fly-In this weekend is still on. Sunday is an "also ran" date. I need some input on program. While I am ignoring long range Wx forcasts with great determination, I won't pull the plug on BAF until Friday PM. Sunday might be available as a back up date but will be pretty low key, meet & greet type.

BAC’s Third Annual Southeast Fly-In at Falcon Field Peachtree City [FFC] is this Saturday (21 May 2005).

I talked to Kay today, and the hours for this relaxed and fun day at the 'hanger' are 9-3. BBQ about noon. Time enough for everybody to fly-in and tie down, and then pop open the chairs and umbrellas and get ready for some great hanger flying!

During our time in the air museum, Carl Link knew what most of the airplanes in the museum were. If I had paid more attention and snapped less photos, I could tell you what they were. Help! Where is everyone?! I need some fellow BAC/MML members to keep Sunny Beech from feeling so lonely! He's on the 19/23/24/76/77 parking row all by himself, flying the BAC Southeast Banner!

I am currently weathered in at Wichita and will be late arriving at Liberal (should be there around 9am, fingers crossed). We have some morning fog that should burn up within the next couple of hours and I'll leave then. I assume Dave B will do the same as he is only a few miles away from me. If you are there, please hang on, more people are on the way.

Hello all - Just a few folks are staying overnight. I couldn't get a group rate, but there are quite a few hotels close to the airport. Peachtree City is an affluent community known for its beautiful golf courses. Airport has car rental service located at the field.

Ladies and Gentlemen list of attendees is growing rapidly. We are about to surpass last year’s numbers. Let’s not stop now. We need a decisive victory over Northeast region. Well, in reality NE gang can never even come close to us. We are still missing quite a few folks who attended last year and are not on the list this year.

We are less than a week away for the North Central flyin at Liberal, KS. This event is open to anyone and everyone that wants to come. Please don't forget to make reservations if you are staying the night. I will fly in on Friday night and will leave Saturday night. If you will attend, send me an email for planning purposes. So far I only have 3 responses from the 20 or so that previously mentioned they would attend.

Boys and girls list of attendees is growing, but we need more airplanes if we are going to break last year’s record. Ladies and gentlemen we, the South East group, started this tradition of spring Fly-In at FFC. Let’s set the bar high so that no other region can touch it.

Hello all - The 3rd Annual BAC Fly-In at Falcon Field [KFFC] is only 3 weeks away. Folks this is going to be a big event. It will be a great opportunity to get some media coverage for our type club. Aircraft Spruce is having an open house on the 21st. I already have $20 off coupons for our club. We'll get 20 cents off per gallon of 100LL with receipt from Aircraft Spruce. They will also have free hotdogs and soda for lunch. Airport authority has given us a dedicated parking spot so that all of us can park together. I am working on the same deal that we had last year for half price IFR certifications from Gardner Aviation. I need at least 3 more to sign up to get the same deal. Last year we had 21 of our airplanes on the field. Let’s try to break that record. Now that we have struggled back home from Dayton and finally melted all the snow from our planes, it's time to get set up for the Northeast Regional fly-in at Westfield MA (BAF).

Despite the weather, BAC East in my eyes was a huge success.All though we had to revise it to BAC East Drive - In.We had more cars than planes and a few flew in via heavy's which would have counted if they had been Beech's, but I think they were Boeings.

Third Annual Southeast Fly-In is scheduled for 21 May 2005 at Falcon Field [KFFC] Georgia. Following are the highlights:

1. Dedicated parking area for our airplanes. Tie downs cable is available. (Same grass field as last year)
2. Aircraft Spruce has given us $20 off coupons
3. Aircraft Spruce will have free hotdogs and sodas
4. 20 cents off per gallon of 100LL with receipt from Aircraft Spruce

Whats missing from this photo? The weather was bad in both Northern and Southern California as well in most of the southwest. The winds at Furnace Creek were around 20 kts with blowing dust. I drove to Furnace Creek and all the way the winds were above 25 kts or more. We will try to reschedule for in the fall as it will be to hot after Mid May. Any other ideas for a Fly-In, please let me know. We cannot let the folks in the great white north have all the fun.

Hello Southeast BAC members. It is time for our 3rd annual Fly-In at Falcon Field [KFFC] located at Peachtree City Georgia. Our fly-in will coincide with Aircraft Spruce's open house on 21 May 2005.

Major Problem Folks Furnace Creek Airport is closed until further notice for Runway Resurfacing.

I Checked the NOTAMS today after being advised that the airport may be closed and sure enough, Riverside has issued a NOTOM with no date when it will be re-opened .I am trying to locate someone there who can give me additional information. Until then WATCH THIS SPACE

Well, the weather is still looking fairly poor but rumor is that a few people have already checked into their hotel room. We are curious who is arriving and when (or if you already have arrived). So let everyone know your plans in the comments.

BAC East Photo Album

Well Furnace Creek is only a few days away. The staff at the Inn will be ready for us and the weather is looking good. Unfortunately Teresa and I will be driving. N6993R is still in paint and will not be ready in time. It’s looking good but there is still a lot of work to be done.

The plan will be to have everyone meet at the airport at 11:00am. We will get some pictures and talk for a bit and then we will call for the bus to take us to the Inn for brunch.

I know it is quite a ways off but, The Pioneer Village Airport In Minden, NE is holding an Antique Airplane Association Fly-in the weekend of August 26, 27 & 28. Not that our planes are Antiques but it would be a great place to get together for a day or two or three, talk Musketeers and visit with other pilots. Below is a brief description furnished by one of the organizers of the event.
