Back Home Safe and Sound

BAC To Akaska
The Alaska Four are back home! Bob Schmidt got home first on Saturday night about 8 PM. Bob and Jennifer were great hosts and let David Snodgrass spend the night and their home. David arrived home about 9:45 AM on Sunday morning. Dan Kirby and Brian Foote arrived at Dan's airport in Ohio on Sunday afternoon after spending the night in Red Wing, MN. They barely escaped the storms at Red Wing on Sunday morning. Brian, the Maine man, arrived home on Monday after spending the night in Williamsport, PA.

Stuck in Whitecourt, AB

BAC To Akaska
We got to fly all of 3 1/2 hours today before weather stopped us. We have thunderstorms to the east and south, with funnel clouds sited toward Edmonton (east of us). We are stuck in a travelodge again tonight. If all goes well, we will leave early tomorrow morning.

Fairbanks - Rows and rows of airplanes

BAC To Akaska
I just got off the phone with Brian Foote. He says that while Alaska is the land of 24 hour sunshine they have not seen too much of that sunshine yet. They are all having a fantastic time in Alaska. I heard some rumor about someone almost landing at a military airport by mistake... but that's just a rumor. Apparently the Fairbanks airport has 42 rows of GA parking. Hopefully they will be able to find their planes to continue on their journey tomorrow!

A new News topic has been added called BAC To Akaska in support of the four BAC pilots and two planes that are headed to Alaska. Photos and stories of their journey will be posted here for all to follow. I know Brian was supposed to head out this morning from Maine, but with 500 foot overcast I'm not sure if he got out or not.
