Help plan BAC East II, Half National Fly-in NOW!
The first "Half National"fly-in for BAC started as an idea of the Board. Brian Foote picked up the idea and did the running with it. To do this takes a lot of personal time and the risk of failure takes a big risk to the ego.
Brian made all the arrangements from 600 miles away to a place to which he had never been. He did this at great expense to his personal time and time taken from his business.
Who would dare to call pulled pork a banquet or have a banquet in an aircraft hangar? Well, Brian Foote set it up and he not only got away with it - everyone loved it! That's taking a personal risk and he should be appluaded for it.
Also, being so far from home (Damarascota, Maine), and being the organizer made it impossible for him to back out even though the travel conditions were terrible. In total, he spent 7 full days (Tuesday to Tuesday) dedicated to BAC East from leaving KIWI to returning home. Add also the planning time and expense. Brian went above and beyond the average fly-in planner.
Now, he invites us to contact him for BAC East II. That is extremely generous. Someone should step up in his place, select a venue and do the job for him. He has a business to run and a family. We should not take more of his time. His wife Bertha is a saint to let him do this for us.
Somebody volunteer their home airport and plan "II" so Brian does not have to do it from Maine. I know he is willing and will do a great job but he's got to still be NE Co-ordinator.
Tom Corcoran
ps: I flew back with Brian from Ohio to New England as a flight-of-two. I want to tell you that he is an excellent pilot! You'll have to ask Tim what it's like to sleep in the same room with him.
