Do a BAC search on "1975 sundowner electric fuel pump", without the quotes. Use the SB numbers and your logs to determine whether the updated kit was ever installed (if it wasn't, you'll need the kit or some extra A&P labor and small standard hardware parts, as outlined in the SBs) . Then use the current fuel pump number shown in the text to contact fuelpumpdepot.com for a current pump price. RAPID stocks the pump for $421, so it will likely be significantly less from FPD. This kind of thing is a major reason for the existence of BAC. You will almost certainly save twice the cost of dues on the pump price alone.

Just when I thought my annual was going to be a piece of cake, I was called
today to tell me that my electric boost pump leaks and fuel is leaking over
an area where the wires are-not a good setup. I'm told the pump is no
longer made although there was a "kit" produced for some $585.00 which won't
be available until the beginning of July!! Does any of this sound familiar
to anybody? Apparently my boost pump was an original part (1972 Sundowner).

Matt

I contacted FPD and they do not handel the pump for my 1980
Sundowner. I called RAPID and they had a new pump for $320. This
is the 24 vdc but they also had the 14 vdc pump. The number for my
pump changed to 58-920054-0021 old number 478587.
I changed out the pump when I got a Fuel Flow Trans and it showed
much higher than normal flow. We suspected back flow thru the
Electrical pump. Other than that I did not detect any signs of a
problem. With the new pump (which corrected the Flow problem) the
pressure bleds down very slow after shuting off the electric pump
(mech pump down). Also at idel the electric pump overides the Mech
pump. It also runs without the nises I had before- The old pmp wold
build up pressure an d I thought it was ok. Now that I see what
a 'good pump' looks like i suspect others may also have a bad pump
with knowing.

The price for the new pump from RAPID was also lower than a rebuilt
pump of the type FPD had.
