Location is Lake Winnipesauke at Alton Bay, New Hampshire.
Date will be Saturday February 13th at 11:30am.
Airboss of New Hampshire Ron Cribbie says, "Be sure there's ice". (Photos show the different landing results)

This looks like my cup of tea every year. To bad its a 8 hour flight one way.

    Matt,
    Welcome to BAC.
You are too new a member to be around for "Musketeers Do Not Float".
The story may still be in the archives on this website.

Last year there was too much snow. Is there even going to be ice this year?

    Allan,

A couple of years ago I had to do a "very light" touch-and-go as there was open water on each side of the well marked runway. Only a Citabria was parked on the ice.

Reports from local volunteers on conditions of the ice are accurate and updated regularly. There is no need for guessing. If the ice will hold the plow trucks it will hold a Musketeer or Sundowner. As the ice forms the recorded telephone line is opened to pilots.

Why not post the photo of your plane on the ice for the benefit of the new guys.

Hey Tom! Not to be too obstreperous but.... You say everyone wants an ice landing in their logbook. Honestly, I love New Hampshire and New England in general, but I have never felt any desire to land on ice. Could you refresh us on how much fun this is? And why you enjoy it? Thanks!

    Paul,

For those of us who fly closer to the edge of the envelope, the thrill of landing on ice or a very short runway is appealing. Done with care, the 2,500' on Lake Winnipesauke is easily done. The taxiing is not. However, the personal reward of the accomplishment rules this endeavor.

Note: My flights to the edge have not always worked out perfectly. Neither have my recent investments in the New York Stock Exchange.

Thanks Tom! I got it now! Land without taxiing and invest without making money.
