    Tail Strobe Swap

I'm replacing my old Whelen Self Contained Strobe beacon this weekend (my
A&P is closed weekends) with a new replacement unit. It's a power and
ground wire only install where I'll clip the wires and attach the new to the
old - just two bare wire connections.

I'm curious if any special connector or technique is required. or if some
type of auto-parts/hardware-store-available connector is okay. or other
    advice.

    Help appreciated. Thanks.

You should use materials acceptable to aviaition applications. You can
use a plastic or metal aviation style plug or a pair of but splices.

    Here's the Amp catalog

Here's a good plug (Male) half:

Here's a good receptacle (Female) half:

You would select crimp type pins that match your wire size.

The simplest connection that can be disconnected for maintenance is the
    blade lock terminals:

When you download their PDF catalog look at the disconnects section. The
    wristlocks

There is also a split knife connector but I don't have a handy reference
    for them.
