    Beechcraft Sold

3.3 billion dollars - to a creation of Goldman Sachs. Money
people, not airplane people. I predict bad times ahead. As bad
as Beechcraft's support has been, I think it will get worse. Hope
    I'm wrong.

The RAC page with various press releases and stuff is at I view it as a mixed bag, although there could be some strategic benefit to having it be an aviation only company.

Lots of rumors state that the new team wants to look at the VLJ market as well. How this all ripples to the poor step-child piston business remains to be seen.

It's also worth noting that the actual acquiring entity on the Goldman-Sachs side is GS Capital Partners - they do have some aviation experience including being an early stage investor in Executive Jet (NetJets) and some varied background in their portfolio. They do have a reputation for building/rebuilding investments more than being a penny-squeezer.

The other general partner is Onex Partners - they own a variety of stuff including Spirit Aerostructures - a very large aircraft structural outsourcing business.

Seems Onex is not only purchasing manufacturing opperations, as they did purchase QANTAS AIRWAYS LIMITED. Seems like the "non airplane people" are getting pretty involved in the flight biz.

Calm yourselves . Goldman Sax is a merchant banker acting on
Onex Corps behalf ....and Gerry Schwartz is an airplane kind of
guy..... trust me ..his corp was the majority of the bunch that
just bought Quantas and he has had the hots for Air Canada for as
long as I can remember ..AND he is a good guy ..very keenly
    interested in GA relax
