    Brake lines and membership

After inspecting the pedals and adjoining brake hoses, one appears to be
showing wear and age on the right co pilot pedal. Would like to know
where I can get these lines.

Also, when my wife gives me my credit card back, I plan on renewing my
    membership.

Look carefully at each line and you will see a metal tag (if they are OEM)
with the Stratoflex part number and TSO information. There will be a date
of manufacture, recommended replacement is 10 years in service, I bet yours
are the original 30+ years old.

You can get them from any certified hose shop with the part number on the tag.

I use Sacramento Skyranch in California (www.sacskyranch.com), but Aircraft
Spruce, Heber Aircraft and many others are also approved hose vendors.

Some will suggest that you can make the hoses in the field with bulk hose
and possibly even re-use your end fittings. I certainly did a lot of that
before an FAA safety meeting a couple years ago, in which they explained
that under the new Suspected Unapproved Parts mandate, that they do NOT
want TSO hoses being replaced with field assembled units, and they
suggested that none of us carry the liability insurance great enough to
withstand the flesh-eating lawyers that would be unleashed upon us when one
of the planes we made a hose for has an accident.

So I don't make up hoses from bulk hose and ends anymore, and I find that
it really isn't cost effective to make them anyway. When I bill my hourly
rate for the time it takes to make up the hose, I really can buy it for the
same or less money from a TSO approved hose shop.

MM does not require any membership. That is a BAC issue. But do renew,
that is what supports the BAC activities at large.

If you are a paid-up BAC member, I can order you TSO'd hoses from Precision Hose Technologies (PHT). I am trying to work something out with them to enable BAC members to order directly from them while receiving the FBO discount that I receive.
