    Stabilator Tips

    Hello out there,
I am in need of both stabilator tips for my 1976 C-23 Sundowner. I have
found replacements for the wingtips but not the stabilator tips. Any
    help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dave B.

    Stabilator Tips

    Dave,

The BAC website shows, "Aero Fairings of Canada" on their website they
have stabilator tips. The only problem is that they are not PMA
approved, they would require a 337 to be completed by your AP/IA.

THe quote from the Beech Aero Club website www.beechaeroclub.org
is "The parts are made to order from their large mold inventory, but
lead times are pretty short. Unfortunately, the parts do not include
any FAA-approved paperwork. If you wish to install them, your A&P-IA
will have to apply for a Form 337 Field Approval, and the manufacturer
may have to furnish "approved data" in order to get the field
    approval."

Their website is http://www.aerofairings.ca/parts.htm I hope this
    helps you.

    Stabilator Tips

I got mine from Wag Aero in 1994 and they have done
very well. They were well made and fit ok.

I purchased replacement fiberglass parts from Globe Fiberglass LTD., Inc. The parts quality was great; perfect fit & finish. Their stabilator tips ARE PMA approved. As I recall, there was a 4-6 week lead time, as low-volume parts (read Sundowner) are manufactured on an as-needed basis and are not usually kept in stock. Here's a link:

Also, I received a discount, I believe it was 5%, when I asked if they offered one to BAC members.

For what is worth…my stab tips and wing tips were real ugly when I took the Sport to the paint shop for an estimate 4 years ago. I said something to the effect that I’d get some replacements for him since these were shot. Paint guy said he’d fix the ones that were on the plane. I said no way…really? (They were cracked and many screw holes missing cracked out altogether.) Over time folks had fastening the screws way too tight. When I picked the plane up I could not believe what I saw. I said so did you have to replace them after all and he said no, he just fixed them. Wish everything was so easy!

Hey…just ordered a mixture control cable from RAPID Friday. $223.00 and they had 5 in stock, now 4. Called a couple of places to see what my options were and when they heard Beech had it they said go for it.
