IO-360 a23b air filter bypass door open with engine off?

I just noticed that the air filter bypass door in the engine intake is
open even with the engine shutoff.( in case I misnamed it its the trap
door which opens in the event the filter clogs or freezes up) I am
guessing the spring in it is shot . I will consult my mechanic but was
wondering if anyone had this issue and if a mechanic can replace the
spring assembly ( if there is such a thing ) or need I purchase the
whole intake duct. Thanks for any input

Alternate Air Door. It is there incase the filter clogs, so that the
engine keeps running. Anytime the air pressure outside is greater than the
spring pressure, the door will open. Having it open all the time causes
the engine to run on unfiltered air. Not good for the cylinders and rings,
when dust and sand from the taxiway get into the engine.

If you can locate the spring, then it should be replaceable. Piper sells
the spring separately, Beech should too.
