    purchasing a musketeer

thinking seriously about a musketeer. fly a D55 baron now, but want a
fun little plane. i once owned a musketeer with the IO346 engine.
never had problems, but i was told the engine is obsolete and can not
be overhauled? is this true, and should i stay away from this engine.

Don't know if you'll ever have passengers much or not, but I'd recommend the Super III with 200 hp IO360, that's what I have.

IMHO, 165 hp is barely enough for these airplanes, especially in summer...

The 180 hp Sundowner might be an option if you travel light and live at a low elevation.

Where are you located? I recently advertized looking for possible partners in the Denver area....

Hi, my experince with the IO-346 is the actual is better than the perceptual! A lot of folks hear a rumor, pass it on with out actual experience. I have rebuilt an IO-346 twice, most recently in 2001.

Cranks are hard to find if you need one, everything else is common. You can use new IO-520 cylinders now.

People are selling these planes on a misperception at a discount.

    Enjoy
