    Centering cable

The nose wheel centering cable for my 1975 C23's broke recently. I'm
trying to find a replacement without using Raytheon. Can anyone offer
    some suggestions? Thanks

Years ago I made one by having the cable ends swaged on a new piece of
cable, using the existing bolt. There used to be a place in Birmingham
that had the tooling (2 actually), but one of them retired and sold off the
shop equipment (at 83!!!), the other sold out the business to a place in
    Georgia.

The place in Georgia has changed hands, and I don't know the owners on a
first name basis, but you can try and reach them to see what they'd do for you.

Probably best to suggest it is for your homebuilt, as I don't know what
their feelings are about making parts for certified planes. I don't think
there is a legality issue, as an owner produced part, just the liability
    question.

Cloyd VanHook in New Orleans and I were JUST talking about a Musketeer
fly-in to EKY for lunch at the new Hangar restaurant. We were thinking of
picking out a Saturday in the next few weeks and inviting the Southeast
Musketeers to Bessemer. Maybe a little centering cable maintenance demo?

Bit of a long shot but as it is a small enough item to post we have just
been though this and found after much drama a place that could do this
here in Australia. If you get stuck contact me directly and I will dig
    out the details.

    Wasn't expensive

Many places will make these for your 'boat' but the issue is finding
somewhere with the correct crimping tool. Double check before you
commit. We had several false starts.
