Take a look at Saturday noon's forecast winds at 12000 feet

Looks 40 kts right out of the south going up through Alberta. Wish I were going to Alaska. You guys ought to have a great start.

    Omen for Alaska trip

    Carl,

Thanks for the good omen news and for the other ways you have assisted
the "Alaska Four." Brian Foote couldn't leave his home airport in Maine
yesterday due to very low ceilings. He plans to leave for Southern Ohio
today to pick-up Dan Kirby. I'll be leaving Wabash, IN (IWH) tomorrow
morning and fly to the Milwaukee area to pick-up Bob Schmidt. Both
planes will meet-up in Rapid City, SD for the North Central Fly-in on
Friday afternoon. Weather for Friday should be descent. The wind you
mentioned for Saturday will speed our trip to the Edmonton area.

If the weather holds out we will be in Anchorage on Sunday or Monday.
The flight to Russia is coming together, with only having the Russian
Flight Permissions signed-off as a last step. If weather is clear, we
will be departing for Russia on June 26th and returning on the 27th. To
the best of our knowledge we will be the first Musketeers to make this
flight! For more about the Russian flight go to
    <http://www.alaskaairmen.com/russian_vfr_route_b369.htm>.

All prayers for good weather and safe flights will be appreciated.
