VA/NC--2 Events in 2 Days!

Join us for the Virginia Regional Fly-In in Suffolk, VA (SFQ) on Saturday, April 28th. This flyin is the largest flyin in the Mid-Atlantic region and has vendors, forums, workshops, etc... You can check out the website at www.virginiaflyin.org. On field camping is available and Alan White will once again be setting up a compound for everyone to gather around! There are also numerous hotels in the area if camping is not your thing. Why are we spending the night? On Sunday, April 29th we are holding another fly in at First Flight Airport (FFA) in NC. It is a short 33 mile flight to where aviation got started at Kitty Hawk on the Outer Banks of NC. We will fly to FFA at noon and from there, ferry over for pizza at one of Paul Werbin's favorite joints. Afterwards, you are welcome to tour the First Flight Museum. Just think about it! Double the flyins, double the states, double the points, double the fun. I'm going to work on getting the Doublemint Twins! Hope to see you there!

This was a lot of fun last year. We will an usually get some good food along the was and a chance to fly with the F18s as you pass over Oceana NAS.

It will be a short hop from Ocean City MD. The Bride can spned the day on the beach and I can fly south, yep, that works real nice.

My overhaul should be finished soon so if 6699S is back in service (very likely) and if I'm not traveling for work (questionable) the I will try to make one or both. I've not been to the SFQ fly-in. The size, vendors, and displays make it sound pretty tempting. I have made the flight to FFA and will recommend it to anyone with an interest in aviation. The museum and site are a great experience. It's also worth the quick hop over to Manteo (MQI) to visit the aquarium within walking distance of the airport. Three things I will say about the approach and landing at FFA are 1, yes, you really do have the field in sight even though you will think you're still too far out, 2, be aware that the wind can be tricky as you come to and pass through level with the tree tops, particularly if there is a crosswind, and 3, watch out for banner towing aircraft ( there are usually quite a few going).
