Is it legal to chrome intake pipes and valve covers?

Lycoming sells a dress up kit for most all engine models with chrome intake tubes, chrome valve covers, and chrome pushrod shroud tubes. I’ve also seen them chromed and gold plated as aftermarket parts. I don’t think you’ll get any static from the FAA if you have yours chromed. (I’ve got a set for my brother’s engine.)
