What is the correct part number for the control wheel or control yoke in my plane?
The very early planes came with a part number 35-380060-9 yoke. This was superseded by the 35-380060-19. While I have been unable to absolutely confirm it, I believe that these yokes have a large diameter shaft-to-yoke junction, where the shaft continues into the yoke at its full shaft diameter. I also have not been able to conclusively determine at what point the changeover to the later yoke occurred.
The correct yoke that followed this early style is PN 35-380060-35. It has been claimed that the -35 used a more crack-resistant plastic. It also uses a smaller-diameter connection to the shaft; the shaft basically necks down where it pins to the yoke. Beech does not authorize an interchange between the -19 and -35 yokes, reinforcing my belief about the shaft fitting diameter being an identifying factor between the early and later yokes.
Note that these yokes are readily misidentifed by salvage vendors. Make sure that the attachment point is the correct diameter for your shaft, if you are buying a new or used yoke.
