Can anyone supply me with the part number or length of the tachometer cable (tach cable, tach drive, tachometer drive) for a 1966 A23-24 Super III, serial number MA057? It has an IO 360-A2B.

What is the correct part number for the tach cable on my 19/23/24/76/77 airplane? And the data for ordering one, if I can’t get one from Beech?

UPDATED OCTOBER 04 2006 WITH NEW INFO-

BAC member Mike Gaboury found that PN 35-380107-3 (and its superseding PN 36-910012-3) would not work on his 1970 A74R, SN MC17. It turns out that the IPC is wrong (what a surprise), and there is a different supersedure trail for the original PN 1589084. It first superseded to 36-910014-1, then to 0144S00010; the latest supersedure is to PN is PE-000-0380. This is a current part number, and is available from RAPID. All four of these numbers are legal replacement parts for all 19/23/24 airframes (but not the Models 76 and 77).
Note that the PN 35-380107-3 called out in the J1-suffix IPC supersedes to the 36-910012-3. These have different end terminations, and have no applicability on our Aero Center line of planes.

The list of tach cables, their length, and their end fittings follows, in order of their supersedure:
Original- 1589084; 38.81”, 5/8-18UNF (2B mod.) and 7/8-18UNF (2B mod.)
First Sup.- 36-910014-1; 38.70”, 820346-1 and 820346-22 (no other specs)
Second Sup.- 0144S00010; 38.00”, 5/8-18UNF and 7/8-18UNF
Third/Current- PE-000-0380; 38.00”, 5/8-18UNF and 7/8-18UNF
The above cables are correct for all pre-1978 19/23/24 airframes.
Any one of them is a legal replacement part, if it can be found.
If unavailable, you can use this data to pursue an ‘Owner Produced Part’.

35-380107-3; 39.19”, 5/8-18UNF (2B modified) and 7/8-18UNF (2B modified)
36-910012-3; 38.70”, 820346-1 and 820346-22
The above two cables are not supposed to be listed for the 19/23/24 airframes.

36-910012-11; 32.10”, 820346-1 and 820346-22
This cable is shown in the E1-suffix IPC for:
Sierras MC533, and MC537 and after
Sundowners M1971, and M1980 and after
Sports MB866 and after
All Model 77 Skippers.

36-910012-7; 127.2”, 820346-1 and 820346-22 end fittings
This is the cable for all the Model 76 Duchess airframes.

Note that while the end fittings have a PN designation on the later cables, they do in fact have the same thread and fitting sizes as the earlier cables.
All these cables are ‘left lay’ cables, for tachometers having a RH needle rotation.
The 5/8″ end fitting goes on the tachometer, and the 7/8″ end fitting goes on the engine.
