Ingall’s Field (HSP) in Virginia is at 3793′ the highest elevation airport east of the Mississippi. It has a 5600′ paved runway and fuel is available. The Recreational Aviation Foundation will be meeting at 10 am on July 31 to clear an overgrown hiking trail for public use and then several members will be staying over to camp for the night. Being at such a high elevation, stargazing on a clear night from Ingalls is a sight to behold. We will have a campfire and you can count on s’mores! Alan White will be in charge of the project and is inviting all interested BAC members to join in. You are welcome to come in at 10 am and help with the trail project or just come in later for the overnight camping. Bring all of your own food and beverage of choice and method to prepare it and overnight supplies (e.g. tent, sleeping bag, camp chair, etc…) If you would like to come but don’t have all the supplies you need, contact Alan and he can possibly help to outfit you for the night.
