Home | It’s getting to be that time (for some of us anyway) to be thinking about engine pre-heating. What are your thoughts on good, reasonably priced, portable pre-heating units? I don’t have access to electrcity so I’m looking at the propane driven units.

I’ve seen the Red Dragon heaters at

And, I stumbled upon this one (there are three pricing models)

What do those of you who tie down outside in cold climates do? This will be
my first winter. I need to do something for sure.

I have used the Surefire Preheater for the last 5 years and it works great. It runs on propane (both sizes of small cannisters) and a source of 12V. I
use a little batterypack that has a 12V outlet like on a car. It generates 350 degree air through an orange hose about 3-4 inches in diameter. It
comes in a red tool box that is easy to carry and store.

I also have the Surefire and it works great. If you order one, make sure you get a long enough hose. I have a Sundowner and the 5′ hose that comes with it wouldn’t have been long enough so I asked them for a 6′ hose. What’s also nice about this over the Red Dragon is the size. It’s small enough I can keep it in the box next to my tie down. It uses the small camping propane bottles. Check it out…
