What can you tell me about the Amphenol connector or plug, which mates the oil temperature gauge to the oil temperature sender?
Editor:
This particular Amphenol connector, MS3106B12S-3S, for the standard MS28034-1 Temperature Bulb, is obsolete for both new design and replacement. I know of no one who makes them or stocks them. Beechcraft (RAPID) hasn’t had them for more than ten years (to my knowledge).
There are two versions of this connector that are approved for replacement use, per the Federal Qualified Products List (QPL) and Mil-Spec MIL-5015 and MIL-5015-DTL. One is slightly longer, with the extended cable strain relief, if it is needed for the application. The shorter one has the cable sealing grommet, as used for bulkhead pass-through in pressurized planes. Both are approved replacements per the Mil-Spec. Unfortunately, the 12S-3 socket size is not generally used in industry, so no one stocks that particular barrel diameter and thread style. The listings all jump from the size 10 to the size 14. The female barrel thread is .750” by 20 UNEF thread pitch, matching the male threads on the bulb.
I was able to have a small quantity of the superseding connectors made for us. You will find them in the BAC Classifieds; the member price is $30 including shipping.
