Bugga. Just had the phone call I dread receiving at this time of year. Yes the big fella in red needs me. It seems Aloyisious, the A/P Elf, failed to comply with AD-0014/09 regarding dye penetration testing of Reindeer attachment points on all Skyrider Sleighs produced on or before 1/01/1029AD. There have been reports of catastrophic failure of these on at least 3 occasions, on sleighs being flown by elves on courier trips for supplies. Such failures may lead to Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and Vixen becoming entangled with Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen, leaving only Rudolph capable of propulsion.

Plus there is a fatigue crack on the right sleigh runner that’s been a bother for the last 300 years.

So, if Chrissy is going to happen I must answer the call. I’m just flightplanning for Super Mouse to begin her trip to the North Pole, then a quick tour of the world. Given the A23-24’s excellent fuel capacity and huge load carrying abilities it’ll be a breeze of a mission..Might even talk the old boy into ditching the sled, and it’s old fashioned propulsion system, for one of our modern beauties!!!

So if I don’t get the chance, given I’ll be flying most of the night (!!!), I just want to wish all my Beech Aero club buddies a safe festive season and a joyful 2010..Oh and may you all find that special Beech bit under the tree.

Mark II from Oz…
