Beech Aero Club President’s Trophy Rules
For 2017

The President’s Trophy is awarded each year to encourage the most fly-in participation by the members of Beech Aero Club (BAC).President’s Trophy rules are at the sole discretion of the current BAC President. There are two President’s Trophy awards. One trophy is presented to the BAC member that accumulates the most President’s Trophy (PT) points during the previous PT Points Year and the second trophy is presented to the member that attends the most official BAC fly-ins during the previous PT Points Year.

The PT Points Year runs July 1 through June 30 of the following year.The awards are presented annually during BACFest following the June 30 year ending.

Awarding points and winner eligibility:

PT points are awarded only to BAC members in good standing who attend a PT-recognized event and properly report their miles.Miles will be calculated as outlined below. PT-recognized events will include Sun-n-Fun, Oshkosh, Beech Party, BACFest plus any BAC event that meets the following criteria:

[LIST=1]

  • The event must be sponsored by a BAC member.
  • The event must be posted on the BAC calendar and BAC Forum for a minimum of five (5) days prior to the event.
  • The event sponsor or Regional Director must compile a list of attendees and the PT points earned then report them to the President(or his/her designee) or on the BAC Forum where the event was posted.
  • A BAC member may sponsor an event in conjunction with an event sponsored by another organization but the above criteria must be met.
  • Only a BAC member in good standing is eligible to earn PT points and receive a PT Trophy at the time of the awards ceremony.

    PT points will be earned as follows:

    [LIST=1]

  • BAC members who fly or ride in a private aircraft of any make will receive 1 point for each nautical mile flown directly from their home airport to the event location, one way.No waypoints, side trips or other stops may be added to the route. Members traveling less than 100 nautical miles to the event will receive a minimum of 100 points.Example:if four (4) BAC members in good standing travel together in a single private aircraft for 250 nautical miles, each will receive 250 points.
  • Attending BAC members who do not fly in a private aircraft, but reach a qualifying event by any other means, i.e. walking, driving, bus, train, taxi or commercial flight, will receive the greater of ¼ point for each direct distance nautical mile from their home airport to the event or 100 points, whichever is greater.

    [LIST=1]

  • PT points may be awarded for “split trips” with mileage awarded consistent with the portion flown in a private aircraft and the portion traveled by other means.Example: if a member is only able to fly part of the way, then due to weather, drives the remainder of the way to the event, 1 point will be awarded for each nautical mile actually flown plus ¼ point for each nautical mile driven.Awarded points will not exceed the straight line distance from the home airport to the event.
  • If only one member attends an event, that member will receive PT points as outlined above, unless that member is the host for the event.If only the host attends an event, the host will receive a maximum of 100 total points.

    Bonus PT points will be awarded as follows:

    [LIST=1]

  • The BAC member who organizes and/or hosts a qualifying event will earn 100 bonus points in addition to his/her mileage points.
  • Qualifying events are not required to occur at the organizer/host’s home field.
  • The organizer/host will receive the bonus points if he/she is unable to attend the event, provided at least one additional member attends the event.
