While this isn't really a BAC question, can someone tell me why my posts on the MML Yahoo List aren't showing up? There is a message that says: "Your message must be approved by the group owner before being sent to the group". (Note that this also applies to BAC-Mail.)

Bob Steward. A&P-IA, MML List Moderator:

All new subscribers to MM are moderated to reserve their posts until reviewed. This is the only means available to us to prevent SPAM. You will notice that there are NEVER any SPAM on MM. Ever wonder how we manage that?

I approve the moderated posts (and delete the dupes from people that post variations of the same thing multiple times prior to the first post being approved) on nearly a daily basis. The SPAM get deleted and the account that sent it gets banned sot hey can't re-join.

This week I was in Memphis hosting the paint clinic and did not have my regular internet connection, so I was not able to view and approve the moderated posts until I got home.

To stop the SPAMMERS, I wait until a new subscriber posts a Musketeer-centric message, and THEN un-moderate their account. This stops the "pump and dump" SPAMMERS that would join, post their SPAM to our 1200 Members, and then unsubscribe.

It is a small inconvenience to those that lurk on the list for some period of time before making a first post, as they usually expect it to automatically show up on the list. This also affects those that are long term members that get bounced from the list by the mail daemons when there email account is full, and they have to re-subscribe. I don't get any indication that they are back with us, so I can't hunt their account down on the very poor Yahoo index and un-moderate them. I just wait until they post a Musketeer-centric message and approve them like every other new
    member.
