    P-40 TFR

Anyone coming to the Gettysburg Fly-In watch out.

The Shrub is on the move again and, of course, this weekend he's going
to Camp David. Located uncomfortably close to Gettysburg, this will be
an obstacle for people coming from the south or soutwest. Even us
northeasterners have to be tight with our pattern. The normal prohibited
    zone balloons to 20NM across.

    The TFR continues through Sunday.

You will be able to see exactly what the area will
look like thanks to AOPA so check it out before you
    fly.

It's about time someone warned about P-40 for this fly-in. Be sure you have
a current TAC for this area, on which the expanded P-40 is outlined. I'm
based at FDK just below it, and ALWAYS fly a minimum of 12nm from its
    center, whether its expansion has been notammed or not. (I fly VFR only;
there are different rules and less likelihood of violating it if you are on
an IFR flight plan and mentored by ATC.)

In any event, if any of you want a real meal that evening, get a ride to
Hoss's Steak and Seafood restaurant on the north end of town. I may make it
to the fly-in after all -- but by car so I can provide local rides to those
who fly in. A real deal for seniors who can expect a 10% discount at any
hour or day (25% between 1:30 and 4:00 every day but Sunday). It's my
favorite restaurant in the entire tri-state area, for quality, quantity,
price, and courtesy. This family chain has about 20 restaurants in
Pennsylvania, mostly near interstate exchanges. One is an easy walk from
LNS in Lancaster, my favorite $75.00 lunch. (No, I'm not a member of the
family -- my one gripe is they eliminated steamed cauliflower as an option
vegetable years ago, and didn't relent despite my complaints. However
they'll do it special for you at no extra charge when you ask.)

Will let you know late Saturday if I CANNOT make it to Gettysburg.
