    Hudson River Corridor

Next month I am planning to take a flying vacation with my son to New
England. Enroute, we want to fly the VFR corridor up the Hudson
River. I seem to recall that there have been some posts here in the
past about some of the members doing this, and would appreciate anyone
with experience doing this to e-mail me so I can get any and all
    information about the procedures involved.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ted Hammond KSAV

    Hudson River Corridor

Wow, That brings back memories... I got my ticket in 1970 just north of
Newburg NY. Soon afterward, I was flying errands for local pilots. Not
making mioney, just flying time. One trip was down the Hudson... That was
before CLASS B Airspace, and before TCAs became the upside down wedding
    cake.
Let me know how your trip goes !

    Hudson River Corridor

I live 20 minutes from the Hudson River Corridor and I have probably
flown it 50 times. Flying there is very simple, providing there are no
TFR's closing it down like there have been for the last few weeks and
next week do to the world conference at the UN. Simply get the NY
terminal chart and you will see that you can fly from the Varazano
Bridge to the George Washington Bridge below 1100 feet. There is a
frequency that you monitor and also self announce your position. There
is frequent helicoptor traffic all with professional pilots on
sightseeing tours but they pose no problems. You will hear things
like "helicoptor circling the statue from the west at 500" etc.

It's a great flying experience, if you just want to look sent me an e-
mail and I will be happy to fly you around, if I'm around.

    Hudson River Corridor

I'm not sure about the restrictions now, but 25yrs
years ago we would fly around the torch on lady
liberty, cruise up and down the skyline, and all you
had to do was stay right. If you get a chance to do
it, its a beautiful sight, and a great expirience.
