    Fear of Flying Resources?

Anyone have any good "Fear of Flying" resources?

My wife WANTS to fly with me, and she feels semi-comfortable flying
commercial, but she freaked out (panic, hyperventalation) during her first
small a/c flight. The good news is that she didn't get sick. <G> I'd
like to get her comfortable in GA single engine stuff.

    Thanks!

My wife is fine to fly commercial but is not comfortable flying in a "little plane." But she does try. I bought the AOPA Pinch Hitter CD from Sporty's. I can't tell you if it helps any cause I don't think she's ever sat down to watch it. But then I've only have it about 6 months or so. Maybe I'll make you a deal.

Give it a try. I don't remember what I paid but it wasn't that expensive.

Also bring her to our first national fly-in next year at Wichita.

We're planning BAC Fest 2006 for some time in August and we haven't finalized any details but we're working on a WOSO (wife or significant other) workshop for just this very purpose.

*** Maybe in small doses? Take her out - on a nice calm day - in the
pattern. All landings full stop, please. That way, she gets a small dose
of flying followed by safe on the ground. Then another small dose - then
    safe on the ground. Etc.

My wife has heard the parts about flying being safer than driving and several times safer. But she says that is commercial airlines and that GA is not as safe as driving. Does anyone have any statistics or facts on this. It does appear to be a rare accident for commerical airline compared to hours flown but much more for GA compared to hours flown. Or is it also true that even with accidents that GA is still safer than other modes of transportation?
