    8796M&Used avionics

Before you go and spend a lot of money on used avionics, determine if
the local installers will install "customer supplied" avionics. Some
will and some won't so ask ahead of time. Besides, they might know
    of a "deal" that isn't on e-Bay.

    8796M&Used avionics

I might add that the avionics guy RECOMMENDED we do it that way and what
models of stuff we wanted (There are like 10 models of the KMA24). We bought
from notable dealers (SE AERO, JA AIR and GULF COAST). All warranteed stuff.
He could have bought the stuff but by buying from different places we got
stuff cheaper. We did a significant upgrade at one time (see pics at
    myplaneonline.com).
All together (not for the 5K of course) we got: I think our total for all
of this was $8K installed and IFR certified.
    KX155 NAV COM
    KMA24 Audio Panel
    KI209A Indicator
    KLN89B GPS
    Annunciator Panel

We got quotes to do it again to another airplane for just GPS and basically
$3K for GPS/Annunicator and $2K for install. The 89B GPS can be found
periodically for aroun $1400-2000, the Annunciator is fixed new at $750 I
think. A GARMIN 300 would be slightly more to install since it's a NAV-COMM
too, plus the added unit price.

Our guy is a P/T GA Avionics and full time USAIR Avionics guy so his labor
rates are more reasonable. Currently works out of a hangar at Anson Cty
Airport in NC, just Southeast of Charlotte.

    8796M&Used avionics

I have a KLN 89B ( IFR) for sale as I am upgrading to
the 94B which is a slide in replacement. So if you go
that route , let me know.

The only advantage of going Garmin ( based on the
amount of money you want to spend) is the real estate.
I believe Garmin is better because of the integration
between the moving map ( a readable one ) and the unit
    itself.
I have total King installed included a KMA 150 as
moving map. If I had to do it again I would go for the
KMA 250 of course , but that's how life is. Look in
    www.myplaneonline.com. Beech Sierra 1975 ( Harry
Roussard) for a view of the panel.
Need to tell you that I am now adding a JPI 700 to be
able to "look inside" the engine to get at least some
for warning when / if the engine is not performing or
has some issues that go unnoticed. That unit is 1500
bucks including OAT and Oil temp sensors. I would put
that on my list for sure. It might have saved me a top
overhaul after 340 hours since Major.

    Regards
