    Mixture Cable

    Well my mixture cable is broken so, can anyone tell me the part number for
    the mixture cable for a B19 MB549?

    I expect I'll have to use the Aircraft Spruce part but I don't know if its
    the same as the B23 and such. If any of you Sport guys have changed your
    mixture cable please let me know.

    Mixture Cable

    I ordered mine from Rapid
    10 23-9024-1 S KIT - ENGINE MIXTURE CONTROL INSTL 1 EA
    $519.57

    This was a complete kit with new grommets for the firewall, and a new
    standoff bracket which bolts to the Carburetor and supports the cable
    better.
    It came with all the hardware and instructions for installation.

    Look at SB 2165 on the BAC Site for details.

    Mixture Cable

    To add to Jeff's good input, I'll mention that there are 337 forms up on the
    BAC site under Downloads, to help with approvals for installation of the ACS
    vernier throttle cable. Properly configured, these usually run in the $100
    to $125 dollar range. Once you have the approved installation, any future
    replacements require no further paperwork. Here is a partial paste from one
    of the 337 descriptions:



    This is a 337 provided by David Vance, for the installation of an
    aftermarket vernier mixture control in his B23, replacing Beech PN
    169-380007-1, using ACS790-20-0600 from Aircraft Spruce And Specialty. It
    includes all required technical data.

    Mixture cable

    I looked at the kit from Beech and the serial numbers start after my Sport's
    serial number. I'm still thinking about using the ACS cable from Aircraft
    Spruce. Does anyone know if that will work in a 1972 Sport 150?

    The Alcor vernier mixture cable is PMA approved for "ALL single engine
    piston powered carbureted aircraft." No field approval needed. Last one I
    bought was cheaper than the Spruce part, too.

    They are available in 84" and 112" lengths, which are then cut shorter as
    needed. I have purchased them from FletchAir, Houston TX 800-FA-WINGS, a
    Grumman dealer and also have found them through the likes of SanVal (now
    defunct?) and Chief Aircraft.

    Mixture Cable

    I wish I had this information before I purchased the ones from Rapid. See
    how this type club can help.
    Mike has done a great job with this and as you can see, the cost difference
    is fantastic.

    You should not have any trouble with the 337.
    Please be sure to post a copy of your 337 on the BAC site. The more prior
    approved data the merrier for folks in the future.

    Mixture Cable

    Just a "me too"...

    I had a mixture cable break last summer, and made the decision to go
    with the $500 unit from RAPID (a misnamed organization.. they were
    anything but quick about it). The thing is hefty. It looks like it
    came out of a King Air and I never worried about breaking it again. On
    the other hand, it took about 8 days (even with AOG---they had to
    fabricate one!) and cost 5x more than the other option.

    If I had it to do over again, I'd go with the 337, hands down.
