Hello Jeff et al,

57R sustained $57K damage, and so it is history. Both my business partner
(pilot) and his fiancé walked away from the fuel-exhaustion landing with
hardly a scratch. Indeed, Beeches are well-built. I am more than grateful
that two dear friends are fine.

After the April purchase, the Musketeer gave us co-owners a great flight
home to PA via the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and over the Rockies. We
stopped for a Beech Factory tour and had a great time the whole trip. He is
probably the best CFI I've ever flown with, and he's done some fairly
demanding commercial flying including high altitude search and rescue,
banner-towing, and crop dusting with never even a hint of a forced landing.

That said, it is now about five weeks since the Christmas eve accident, and
I am only coming to the point that I can talk about it. Having had enormous
regrets over selling my previous Musketeer (although it went to a great
home), 57R was the complete IFR platform replacement. Ironically, the fall
was so busy that I flew little, only managing to stay IFR current, and I
looked forward to the spring semester's lighter workload and planned trips
to Grand Rapids, Chattanooga, and southern Florida.

I am beginning the search for a replacement aircraft and have some interest
in one of the Kansas State Sundowners, but there are problems making that

Enough of the rambling.

Thanks to those of you that sent good wishes in December.

Dennis Ritz
