We have just installed the Beech Aux Power Outlet on my 1980
Sundowner. This is a 28vdc system so it uses the Aux Power Relay.
The wiring diagram showes the Aux Power lead connects to the LOAD
side of the Battery Relay. When 24vdc is applied to the Aux Outlet
the /aux relay closes and connects the Aux Power to the LOAD. The
Operator Manual says to turn the MASTER ON when using the Aux
Power. If you do this then the Aux Power and the Battery will be in
Parallal with the LOAD. When you disconnect the Aux Power the
Battery could keep the Aux Power Relay energized. The operating
Manual says nothing about turning the Master Off to break the Seal
in.

What is the correct procedure? I am thinking that when you have the
Aux Power Relay you should start with the Master OFF( thats what I
did in my Cessna 310). The Aux Power relay will energize all that
the Battery Relay did. Once started and the Aux Power is removed the
Aux Power relay will drop out and you then turn the Master and Alt
on.

If you start as the Operater manual says i think that you would have
to turn the Master OFF after starting to drop the Aux Power Relay
out then turn the Master and Alt ON.

I would like to hear comments from people that have used the 24 vdc
Aux Power system
