    Strange thing

I just put in a new MX170 this week. When I turn the radio on it kills
the signal going to my AIRMAP 2000. It also has a strange whine caused
by the dimmer in the radio. When the display goes dim by putting your
finger or over the photocell or at night the noise goes away.

I had to take the MX170 back out and put my KX170B back in so I could
use my GPS. I am now in Class c airspace at SFB that is why I bought
the MX170 to get a flip -flop radio with memory. But the GPS is of much
    greater help.

    Any ideas?

    Strange thing

Try relocating the GPS antenna, the radio is interfering with the signal.
I am not sure about the whine, unless it is feedback from the GPS antenna.

I tried that already today. I even tried it with the external antenna
unplugged and running just on the batteries. I keep the external
antenna on the side of the windsheild all the time. It works great
now that I put the KX170B be in.

    I bought the MX170 because I wanted a flip-flop radio.
I hope I can find a way to make it work. Or if the radio is bad. The
features of the radio are very nice.
