    Electrical Short?

While returning home (OXC) yesterday in my '76 C23, it was just
starting to get dark so I put my nav lights on. Immediately both my
fuel gauges went to full, and both were ½ or below. My ammeter did
    not show a discharge.

Other than my AVMap running off the cigarette lighter, I only had my
tail light, 2 radios & transponder on.

Before I go up again, am I looking at an electrical short or was I
    overloading?

Do a BAC search on ‘erratic indications’. It will probably explain
    everything.

Sounds like a bad ground at the instrument panel. The extra current caused the gauges to peg.

Plenty about this on BAC, too. Just do a search on ‘erratic indications’.
