Thanks to all who replied about my dilemma.

I called the A&P at home last night and when I arrived at the airport
this morning he was just putting the last screws back in the cowling.
He removed the pump, did what disassembly he could, blew it out, and
it's working just fine.

Left Springfield, VT, had lunch in Buffalo, NY, and dinner in Muskegon,
Michigan. On to Fond du Lac tomorrow if the storms move a little north.

Thanks for all the advise on Canada overflight, as well---a non-event---
and the Canadian controllers were very friendly and helpful bunch.
