There was an article in this week's AOPA ePilot newsletter concerning
a Sundowner accident. It makes a good read on why even suggested
mechanical procedures should be followed.

Nearly 20 percent of all general aviation accidents are a result of
mechanical failure. On April 27, 2002, a student pilot, his flight
instructor, and one passenger were killed and another passenger was
seriously injured when the engine in the student's Beech Sundowner
failed over Oak Shores, California. Read what went wrong in this
special report prepared by the AOPA Air Safety Foundation,
exclusively for ePilot readers.
