[musketeermail] starter adapter for IO 346

I replaced the starter with a Sky-Tec, because the engine turned so
slowly, then the starter adapter. This was after the previous owner
had replaced the starter adapter less then 100 hours ago. This
adapter lasted maybe 5 starts and it needed to be replaced. They
replaced it for free less labor. This one lasted three starts. When
each was first put in, the plane would start in a very few revolutions.
    ANY HELP?
    Thanks

New starter adapters or "rebuilt" ones?

The starter adapter is a simple item. One should determine WHAT failed,
and that will give you a clue as to the cause of the failure.

Incorrectly set ignition timing, or with the Sky-Tec starter, not having
dual impulse couplers on the mags and letting the Right mag be hot during
start can cause a kick-back that destroys the starter adapter clutch.

I'd suspect that the Ignition is your culprit, and that the addition of the
Sky-Tec aggravated the problem because it is able to turn the engine
rapidly, thus letting the mag(s) fire when they should not.
