    Door hatch spring

Anyone know where I can get a torsional spring for a small door hatch? Its on the door for the
remote battery plug rt side on the Sundowner. The spring broke, it goes around the pivot pin.
I've looked around all the hardware stores. Any ideas?

    Door hatch spring

I've looked many places and never found a suitable replacement.

The best fix is to go to the hardware store, buy a spring made out of similar wire, straighten the wire, and then bend the wire into a spring similar to the one that broke.

If you don't have time for all that, a quick fix is to buy a rubber o-ring from the plumbing department and stretch it around the two posts on the inside of the latch mechanism. They last a long time and do the job.

    Good Luck!

    Door hatch spring

You can buy spring wire from hobby shops that sell radio control airplanes. I rewound a spring from this wire and it has lasted for 5 years and is still going.

    Door hatch spring

this spring might be like the spring used to hold the door closed on trailer plugs that are on your pickup for the trailer lights ...They use the pivot pin as well to hold the door closed ...Their are two different sizes the 1 inch for pickups and the 2 inch used for bigger trailers... Any parts house will have them you want the end that goes on the truck side ...Kevin
