I know the issue of running too lean or at peak EGT has been beat to
death but I just got the bad news that my # 2 cylinders exhaust valve
is leaking ....upon removal I can see that the exhaust valve has been
subject to high temps and is in fact leaking pretty bad. I have been
running at peak egt with 4 probe monitoring and was wondering if this
is the culprit .The overhauler ( known for being very reputable is
looking into my warranty rights ) probably gonna pro rate it or
something ...we will see ....

Strange thing is though that has my A+P curious is the the piston
just below the piston rings appears to be pitted or flaking almost
looking like chrome is flaking off .I have been doing the oil and
filter changes exactly at 50 hours and do use the plane often so I do
not believe its a spalling issue .In the meantime I am also sending
back the piston to get it looked at.Any one have any info on why the
piston may look that way thanks Chas
