    Liberal and the WX

    Well,

wx didn't work out in our (my) favor. It took longer to burn off the
morning fog than what was forecasted. By the time I would have made it
to Liberal, it would have been 3pm. If anyone was able to make it,
please let me know how it went.

    Liberal and the WX

Well the Liberal Fly-In is in the books now. I'm sure it will go down as
one of the smallest events - only three planes, but a good time was had by
all. I was the last to arrive (from the Denver area) mid morning following
up close behind Carl Link also from Denver area (Longmont). Dave Buttram -
Haysville, KS. was already there with his nephew, Austin and my son came
with me for a grand total of five people.

We use the Lyddon FBO's courtesy car and had breakfast at the Chuck Wagon,
a local greasy spoon with an emphasis on greasy. At noon we all met at the
Mid America Aviation Museum and had a great round-table discussion with
Larry Magri, former manager of engineering at Beech, and responsible for
seeing most of our aircraft come into being. His knowledge and experience
were absolutely fascinating. We learned a lot about our Musketeers today.
We ended the day touring the Museum, an amazing collection of aircraft of
    all types.

We missed NC Regional Director, Ray Seif who couldn't make it out of Wichita
    this morning. Fog.

The flight was smooth for us to Liberal from Denver (260 miles, or
thereabouts), but light chop the entire trip back. That makes for kind of
a long 2+ hour trip. Dodged a few rain cells on the way back but arrived
safely, as I know Carl did. Don't know about Dave yet. Report in when you
can, Dave. Had fun, met some new friends, was enlightened by Larry and
logged 2.3 cross country in the book. Anxious for the Mount Rushmore event!

    Liberal and the WX

I second the comments and I made it home fine. It was bumpy all the way
back but no showers going east. I was really lucky to make it out this
morning. Wellington is about 20 miles south of Wichita and was right on
the edge of the fog. Fortunately there were some breaks that allowed us
to get up above the fog. We flew the edge of it about halfway to
Liberal. Clear out the left, fog below us and to the right. I want to
thank Ray for all his work. Sorry the weather didn't allow you to enjoy
it. I took quite a few pictures and will upload to BAC when I get them
    organized.

    Liberal and the WX

    Hi Guys,
Sorry to miss this one. Ann and I had rented a condo on Lake of the
Ozarks and spent the week looking at property down there. Otherwise, I
would have been there. BTW, did fly from FTG (Denver) to H21 (Camdenton,
MO) in under 4 hours two weeks ago. Had a 65 knot tailwind going and a
15 knot coming home. A soul is a small price to pay for tailwinds both
ways and no bugs on the windshield.
