    Stabilator trim tab questions??

Hello All.. I have a 1967 A23-19 and during the last inspection the
play at the trailing edge of the trim tab was under the required 1/4
    inch.
Question one, I did notice some up and down play (small amount) where
the shaft comes out of the actuator. Just how much play is acceptable
and if I am under the required 1/4 play on the end of the trim tab
mentioned above am I OK and should not worry about it?
Question two, The shop manual advises to pack the actuator every 1200
hours with MIL-G-23827 grease. What is the best way to approach this?
Anyone have experience doing this?. The shop manual doesnt really go
    into it much.
    Thanks ! Joe

    Stabilator trim tab questions??

I did it last year the only way to lube the actuator is to remove it. Use 2 small blocks of wood with a bolt through it to stop the trim cables disappearing up the fuselage. Also when winding the trim cable back around the trim actuator wind it nice and tight and make sure it the right way again use 2 small blocks of wood to hold it tight around the drum it will make installing the trim actuator a lot easer. I would recommend changing the tail plane bolts at the same time the trim system is apart its makes it a lot easer with it all removed after all most of there bolts are 35 years old.

Its not a hard job the whole trim system will need to be re rigged i would suggest reading the manual 3 times before you start.
