    Brake fluid

My POH says I need to use Mil-H-5606 hydraulic fluid for the brakes. I
have a 1980 Sundowner. I have a can of MIl-H-5606A. It is red like the
other but I do not know what the "A" stands for. Can I use it?

    Thanking you in advance.

    Al

Yes, you can use it. The A suffix denotes a slight revision in the product, usually the result of some slight improvement, while it still conforms to the MilSpec.

Mike is right about the suffix A being a small revision to the
specification. I believe MIL-H-5606 was up to about "H" when it was
finally dropped in favor of MIL-H-83282 (now MIL-PRF-83282) by the
    military.

There is a QPL or Qualified Products List for MIL-H-5606 and also for
MIL-PRF-83282 and If I remember I will download these and send them
to Mike for inclusion in the BAC website. FWIW, MIL-PRF-83282 is
more fire resistant than 5606 and is completely interchangable and
    mixable with 5606.
