Sounds like you are receiving OK and the mike worked on radio #2, so
while it could be something external to the radio, like the rack
connection that you mention, I'd suspect something in the amplifier
path, internal.

Ones like this can be "shotgunned" in the field to a certain point.
Obviously, the first step is to re-rack the radio to see if a bit of
corrosion in the rack connector is broken. The second step is (if
possible) swapping out the radio to see if the problem is internal.
The third step is cleaning each of the connections to the antenna
and then the antenna to frame.

However, at the end of the day, giving the radio to a shop to bench
check isn't expensive and will usually determine if the problem is
internal.
