Minnie, my '63 Mouse, is equipped with the standard Airpath
compass. For some time the right mounting lug has been broken
allowing the compass to swivel. It's not until I bought a
replacement compass that I realized the compass has a three point
mount. Apparently the back (toward the front of the plane) lug has
probably been broken for some time. Finally the left mounting lug
broke too so the compass is only "secured" by the wires for the
light. When I tried to fit the new compass in place it looks like
I'm trying to match a flat compass base to a rounded glare shield.
The Model 23 is the only Mouse that has the curved glare
shield. I'm wondering if the stress from such a mounting is what
has caused the lugs to break (or the housing to crack along the
base).

MY REAL QUESTION IS: IS THERE SUPPOSED TO BE SOME SORT OF AN
ADAPTER PLATE THAT MATCHES THE FLAT BASE OF THE COMPASS TO THE
ROUNDED GLARE SHIELD. IF SO CAN ANYONE GIVE ME THE PART NUMBER?

That's the price you pay for the shapely and graceful curves of THE
ORIGINAL MOUSE.
