    Fuel Pump

Well I went flying today and when I arrived back to my home (KIWI) I went to restart after fueling and noticed my Boost Pump was not working, after making sure it was not a loose wire or bad switch I looked at the pump itself. It is sticking, if you hit it it frees up and works for another minute or two.
When I looked in the maintenance manual it shows to use a 6014 WALBRO pump, when I pulled the part number off of the pump it was a Facet 574A, which is a different style pump from what the manual shows.
So I am wondering which pump is correct for my serial number M-1712.

    Thanks in advance

    Fuel Pump

    Brian,

You might try disassembling it to see if there is something that is making
it stick. I disassembled mine at the last annual to clean the filter
screen. I also basically disassembled the whole thing and spent 20 minutes
searching under the cabin floor for a spring that shot out when I removed a
clip. The spring was about 1/8 of an inch long with the wire as thin as a
human hair. I am exaggerating, it was two human hairs in diameter. Anyway,
the mechanism is fairly simple and might be repairable. It would definitely
be easier to work on it while it is removed from the plane, and watch where
that spring goes. My boost pump (M-1381) looks exactly like the Facet
480545, without the $300 Raytheon part number sticker.

    Fuel Pump

    Good morning Brian,
Not sure if it would apply to your bird, but there was a recall by Beech
about 10 or so years ago to replace the boost pump in the IO-360 engines.
Some of them had vanes that sheared and contaminated the fuel downstream.

    Fuel Pump

Well my A&P today called RAPID and was given the right part numbers for the fuel pump.
    Beech p/n 476410
    58-920054-15 (supposedly current p/n)
But of course RAPID that says they have 90% of there parts in stock does not have it in stock and they were not sure when it would be in stock.

I think they like to see our planes grounded.

So we are looking for other sources for the part.

I do know that National Aero Parts of America (NAPA) has the Facet 574A in stock and it is used on many older foreign sports cars.
They retail it for about $39.99, RAPID was $325 if they had it.
So we are still looking, if anyone knows a aircraft parts dealer that has it in stock, I would much so appreciate it along with the other 3 members that are going to Alaska with me next week.
    Thanks
    Brian

    Hi Brian,
Often you can request an AOG (aircraft on ground) status for your order. It
will drastically speed up the process for a very little money.

    Hi all:

There is a beech parts dealer, out of Calgary, Alberta, called Field
Aviation. I have dealt with them in the past and have been pleasantly
surprised by their service. There is also a scrap dealer in Chilliwack,
British Columbia, called Upper Valley Aviation, who from time to time come
across our type of aircraft. I will find the phone numbers and web sites and
    post to this group.

    Fuel Pump

We had to order an aileron control cable from RAPID. Almost 8 months
wait time without AOG. Cost of part = $160, Shipping without AOG -$35,
shipping with AOG charges = $165.00. AOG got us the part in a few days
(6 I think) but shipping and AOG cost more than the part did.

It sounds like the same pump Piper uses. If it is they are available

Sorry for resurrecting an old post, there are plenty of others but this one contains a reference to a Beech pn for the boost pump as 476410. I found the same Facet pn on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT and also at Spruce. Any chance Beech simply used the Facet pn? Someone with some knowledge, pls chime in. Thanks
