Bill, I hope you can get some sleep now. My son and I enjoyed our
time in Rapid City and returned home safe at about 9pm local on
Saturday evening. The flight of 9 around the Black Hills was kind of
like herding cats. We were suppose to be in
the #4 position but when the orange plane from Maine did about a 270
degree to nowhere we headed straight for Mt. Rushmore. Now in
position #3 we went around Harney Peak, Crazy Horse over the lake
and back to KRAP with lots of interesting radio chatter like "who is
over Spirit Lake", " What altitude are you at?" and so on. Well
anyway we never did find plane #2 and landed #1 because Bill did a
go around.

Another learning experince over MSP on the return flight. My sons
mic "quit working" after about the third or forth frequency change
with flight following. We fiddled around checking his mic,
batteries, differenent plugs etc.when I thought it had been quite a
while with no transmissions from MSP center. Finally got a call from
center who said they had to shift a bunch of planes off frequency
because I had tied up the frequency (for about 20 minutes)with a
stuck mic. It was not Northwest's day. So when a mic or other
passengers head sets are not
working check if your transmit button is stuck.

Thanks again Bill for a great time. I guess Devil's Tower may mean
something different next year.
