Thanks to everyone who responded to my request for personal experience with
wingtips. After gathering all of the responses about the various
replacement wingtip options, I will go with the Met-Co-Aire wingtips. They
are fiberglass, FAA-PMA approved, reasonably priced, and I received good
reports about them. Globe was second with the same attributes, but they are
$130 plus shipping more than Met-Co-Aire. Aerofairings are not FAA-PMA
approved. If I lived closer to the FSDO I might try getting a 337 field
approval. Without knowing the material properties, I would run the risk of
not getting approval until after the annual.

The next issue is getting a split tailcone. It looks like Globe is the best
source for replacements. I don't think mine will survive another annual
without cracking. Are Globe and Aerofairings the only sources for a split
tailcone? I would be more inclined to try for a 337 field approval on the
Aerofairings tailcone because, unlike wingtips, it has very low aerodynamic
loads and the 337 should be a bit easier to get approved.
