    [BAC-Mail] Throttle Part

David - Have you tried any Salvage yards? I got one at my home field, do
you want me to see if they have a usable part?
You can call Atlanta Air Salvage at 1-800-237-8831. They usually have
    Musketeer parts.

An update on my quest for a replacement throttle cable and another plea
for help. I've contacted the following companies trying to find a close
fit to my throttle control (Raytheon part# 169-940013-19) for a 1969
    Musketeer B23 (Serial# M-1176):

Raytheon - none in stock and November 1st expected date - price over
    $1,100
ACS - even their custom cables have the spiral outer casing
McFarlane - only make friction lock-type throttles, not button actuated
Tuthill - don't make throttles for Musketeers
Ram - don't make throttles for Musketeers
Centex - don't make throttles for Musketeers

A company named Sedco out of Oklahoma City, OK is the manufactures name
on Raytheon's drawing for the part. No Sedco in Oklahoma City, but the
one Sedco in Oklahoma is a land survey company. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

    [BAC-Mail] Throttle Part

Thanks Oz, but I think I'd rather have a new part for such a critical
    application.

    [BAC-Mail] Throttle Part

    David,

You may have missed my follow-up message on the ACS part. "I just talked
to my mechanic again. The problem is not the hole diameter (my mistake).
The ACS unit he used was an ACS standard part (A750?) with a cable
length of 48". Now we know the length of my cable is 43". He thinks the
excess cable is causing the cable jacket to expand. ACS has offered to
make a custom cable the same length as my present one, but it will still
have the cable jacket around it."

It appears that I will be going with the custom ACS throttle. They may
even be able to use the original knob so that it still "looks" like
    original equipment.

    Dave,
Still confused about why the ACS cables are not acceptable to your A&P.
Went to the hangar and inspected 81N and BOTH throttle and mixture are
ACS with heavy spiral wire outer shell.
Given that these cables are in LOTS of planes and they ALL have to go
through the plane's fire wall to do what they do, it is simply
implausible that the way they are manufactured would make them
    unacceptable in a Musketeer.
    Your money, though...
    David
