    window plastic

    Hi all,
I have seen a few 1963 model 23 musketeers that had the third window like the
A23. Was this something done at the factory as an option , or was it done
later? I would like any info I can get if it was done afterwards. I like the look
and the better view to the rear. I would also need to find the plastic trim
for an A23 for the back windows, any ideas where to get some and how much?

    Thanks,

Just a little aside. Last year I saw a A23 at one of the fly-ins I
attended. The pilot told me to feel free to look at it (he was proud of
the new paint job). As I looked it over he asked if I noticed the third
window. I had to look twice before realizing that it wasn't really a
third window, it was just painted to look like a window. Obviously, it
doesn't help visibility, but still gave the look of the newer models!

Early on (definitely 63 and maybe 64) they all had the
2 windows. When they decided to go to the 3 window
set up, then 2 windows setup was reserved for all of
us that have the Sport. I'd give up a window or two
for a baggage door..., but some things aren't meant to
    be.

    window plastic

    Thanks for the reply,
The reason I am asking is there is a 1963 model 23, m-217, N2377L, that has
the third window in it. The plane is for sell in trade-a-plane now. I called
and talked to the owner and he said there wasn't any thing in the logs about
the window being added after the factory. This doesn't mean it didn't happen
though! tou can see a picture of it on the web site Myplaneonline.com under
beechcraft. The owner at the time was Gordon Nesbit, or something like that. It was
polished at the time, it is now painted. I just like the look with the third
window if it was possible to do legally, and I could find the plastic like the
A23 has. I am at the end of a two year annual, which involved new forward
attach points on both sides, new glass all around, all new fiberglass parts, a
new leather interior, new root seals, Wing tip strobes, and many other small
stuff. If I was ever to install the third windows now would be the time before
paint. I am sure it could be done, but finding the plastic that is in good shape
is the real problem. I will let the group know what I find out.

    Thanks,
    Ron Van Hoosen
