Join your fellow Beech Aero Club members at BACFest 2011 in Ithaca! Register on the BAC website and make your hotel reservations directly with the hotel. Make sure that you mention you are with the Beech Aero Club group to get the special room rates.

Our early arrival day is set for Thursday, September 29. Those flying their aircraft in will arrive at Ithaca/Thompkins Regional Airport (KITH). Our host FBO for the event is Taughannock Aviation. While it is great to fly into the event, and we encourage such, we also want to see you there even if you can’t fly in.

Sometimes the weather does not cooperate, sometimes that aircraft needs a little work and the maintenance just does not align with our plans. Sometimes it is just more cost effective or smart (weather) to fly on the big birds. Fly yourself, let someone else do it, or drive. Anyway you can get there will reward you with a great time.

A host reception at the Clarion Hotel University will start at 5pm in the Beech Aero Club hospitality suite. There will be appetizers and refreshments. Enjoy dinner on your own or team up with some of the other members for the evening.

Friday is Airport Day. As we have in the past, part of the day will be set aside to take a look at member aircraft and have those all important plane side conversations. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Expect some speakers in the afternoon to cover some local aviation history and we are working on some experts to provide some useful information about longer term maintenance.

The Friday evening reception will take place in one of the hotel conference rooms about 6 pm. Appetizers will be available as will a bar. Each participant will be issued drink tickets which can be used at any of the events which include a bar. Members are again encouraged to team up with others for dinner plans, or, enjoy a quiet dinner with your significant other.

Each morning, the hotel will provide a breakfast for the guests.

The Saturday luncheon is buffet style with service in the foyer between the member luncheon room and the spouse’s luncheon room. The member’s annual meeting will take place during the member luncheon. A bar will be open for the event.

The Saturday dinner this year has two choices for dinner. Filet Mignon or Atlantic Salmon so don’t forget to make your choice when you register. A full bar will be available before and during dinner so save a few drink tickets for dinner.

Our guest speaker for the dinner event is Jim Campbell of Aero-News Network. Jim’s website is a great aviation new source, but that is just part of the story. Over the years, Jim has shown the willingness to take on topics which others might avoid or wish were avoided and those stories are often enlightening. He is not afraid to share his opinion or his feelings. He should be a very interesting speaker.

One very lucky member is going away with a significant door prize this year. We will have many of the usually interesting items in our drawings. The stand-out will be a brand new iPad preloaded with ForeFlight Software. The only requirement to be in the drawing is that you are a member in good standing and you must be present to win.

All of this and our registration fees for the event are only $75 per person. Two reception events, lunch at the airport, our Saturday Luncheon and Dinner on Saturday evening. Some great speakers and a chance to walk away with a flight functional iPad with ForeFlight installed. And, best of all, a chance to reconnect with members you have met at earlier BACFest events, or, if your first time, to become part of a great annual tradition.

See you at BACFest2011 in Ithaca, New York!
